The real heroes of the American Theater

Actors’ former board president, Yandell Smith, died Saturday. Yandell is the mythical president that in 1968 locked the doors at the board meeting and no one could leave until they wrote a $4,000 check so that the Theatre could have a season.

That's sad to hear. I don't know that I've met Yandell, but just this year I heard the 1968 story about locking the doors for the first time. True or not, it sounds like we/the theatre owe/s a lot to this man.
