New Job - Almost An Athlete

Oh lord - I haven't gotten around to this in ages. I promise to be more on it. Promise. Promise.

Right now, I'm in Anchorage Alaska being a good hockey husband and watching my wife in a tournament. Her team finished the tournament 3-1 and now they play for the championship tomorrow. Yes - my closest I may ever get to being an award-winning athlete is by sleeping next to one. Perhaps she'll put the trophy in-between us and I can accidentally snuggle with it.

I thought that Anchorage would be like the set of Deadwood, but with snow. But the Wal-Mart, Borders Outback Steakhouse and Starbucks seem to have gotten here long before I did. I mocked their capitalistic ways and then purchased two books and a venti coffee. Damn.

I haven't put anything up lately as much of my time fretting has been about whether I get a new job or not - or whether going freelance drives me insane. Luckily I was only freelance for about two minutes (which did in fact drive me insane). A few hours after I announced that I was leaving Cal Shakes, I got an email from an Artistic Director asking what my intentions were (almost as though I had just asked out his daughter). Well a couple of months later, and it looks as though a formal announcement about my new job might be out in a few weeks - I can say that it involves new plays and bourbon. Which is good - as right now, in Anchorage, it's 0 degrees, that's not, there isn't a degree around, so I'll need plenty of new plays to burn to keep me warm, and perhaps a touch of the bourbon also.
