FAMILY DAY!

Hey everybody,

A giant thanks and an even larger “great job” to everyone that made family day the smash success that it was. When was the last time that Saturday at 2 was packed to the gills!?!
It was so great to see an event that had associate artists, interns, board members, cast members, ambassadors, and staff all working together to pull it off. For an incredibly tiny amount of money, we pulled off one of the more charming events in recent history. So, a big thank you to everyone that gave up their Saturday morning to help make it happen. Good times, good times.

    My old friend Bill Campbell

My theater in Atlanta was within walking distance of the home of Bill Campbell, former Mayor of Atlanta. Since he was the mayor he always had two cop cars right outside his house. Whenever parties at Dad's Garage got too loud, the mayor would send the cops over to "quiet us up". They'd tell us "you're keeping up the mayor" and then they'd generally hang around till everyone left.

When i finally met Bill Campbell, at some event saluting arts leaders he shook my hand, and then a second later shook my hand again like we hadn't met, I mentioned "this is actually the second time you've met me" to which he responded "well, then you should vote for me twice" - it sounded clever in the moment, but the more you think about it, it doesn't make sense.

Yesterday, Bill Campbell was sentenced to 30 months in a federal pen for "tax evasion", he claims it was just "sloopy bookkeeping". He is the 12th person from his administration to be convicted on federal charges.

I hope all this trouble isn't because we kept him up late....

    Another super sweet review

I don't know the Napa Valley Register - but how can a paper from a place that drinks wine everyday be wrong?

    Final Preview

At dinner before our final preview – the show turned a corner last night, partially because it’s a comedy and it needed an audience, and partially because the cast finally got comfortable and took over the show! Instead of it running them, they ran with it last night. The light at the end of tunnel is starting to appear. Starting…at 3 in the morning I realized that the answer to one of our transition problems was a “Scooby doo moment” – where everyone would run across at exactly the same time – in a clump – we put it in the morning, and we’ll see if it works tonight – sometimes 3 in the morning ideas are the best, and sometimes they’re left there – we’ll see about this one.
